Gerald Pauling received a round of applause after he was sworn in as a new District 233 board member serving Homewood-Flossmoor High School.
Fellow board members also elected Pauling the board’s vice president-secretary by a 6-1 vote with member Beth Larocca voting no.
After taking the oath of office, Pauling said, “I hope to honor the encouragement and support (of family and friends) by serving in a manner that makes you proud. I feel I owe a lot to H-F and I hope that by serving I can begin to give back some of what H-F gave to me. The road won’t be easy. We have a lot of work to do. I want to continue on the trajectory that we’re on.”
